Chief David L. Arbogast, #1503

Chief Arbogast joined the Medina Township Police Department in November of 2002.  Prior to his appointment as Chief he served as Chief of Richfield Township.  He has worked in Law Enforcement since 1977.  He holds a master degree in Public Administration, A bachelors of Science in Technical Education and as Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Akron.  He is also licensed as a school administrator.

 Sgt. Shari Mangel, # 1507

Sgt. Mangel began her career with the Medina Township Police Department in 1997 after graduating the police academy.  She has held the position of Sergeant since 1999 and has specialized training in drug interdiction and identification, investigation and interrogation techniques, advanced traffic stop techniques, dealing with the mentally ill and numerous other fields.  She has served as a field training officer and has helped with the training of new recruits in the academy. 

She is a high school graduate of Villa Angela – St. Joseph in Cleveland, Ohio and holds an associates degree in applied business from Bryant and Stratton Business institute.

Sgt. Mangel’s interests include reading, photography and animals and she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

 Sgt. Todd A. Zieja, #1508

Sgt. Zieja joined the Medina Township Police Department in 1994, he was promoted to Sergeant in 1997 and he was hired as the first full time officer in January 2000. He graduated from Cloverleaf High School while attending the Law Enforcement Program at the Medina County Career Center. After he completed the Basic Peace Officer Academy Training at Cuyahoga Community College, he returned as an instructor for the academy. Todd holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelors degree in Political Science / Criminal Justice as well as a Masters Degree in Public administration from the University of Akron. Todd completed the Police Executive Leadership College in 2007, which is an intense course for today's leaders. He holds numerous certifications in many areas.

Officer J.A. Linsker, #1510

Officer Linsker joined the Medina Township Police Department in 2012, bringing with him over 30 years of law enforcement experience at the township, city, county and federal levels.  Officer Linsker has a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University and a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School.  He is also a certified Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Instructor and holds numerous law enforcement certifications.

Officer Michael Oyler, #1511

Officer Oyler joined the Medina Township Police Department in November of 2006, bringing with him over ten years of experience.  He began his career as a Police Officer in 1996 with the Dalton Police Department in Wayne County. He is also a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal assigned to the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.  He is the departments investigator for identity theft, domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse cases, and is a member of the Medina County Domestic & Sexual Violence Taskforce. He has specialized training in Drug Facilitated Sexual Assaults, Interviewing and Interrogation Techniques and Crisis Intervention to name a few. Upon Graduating from the Canal Fulton Northwest High School in 1992, he attended Kent State University, studying criminal justice and is a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard. Officer Oyler obtained his student pilot certification and enjoys flying in his spare time. He and his wife have two children.

Officer Hallie Beardsworth, #1514

Officer Hallie Beardsworth joined the Medina Township Police Department in January 2012. She began her law enforcement career interning with the Toledo Police Department in the summer of 2008. Officer Beardsworth attended Bowling Green State University and graduated in December 2009 with a bachelors degree in criminal justice. She earned her OPOTA certification from the Medina County Police Academy in June 2011 and graduated with perfect attendance. She is proud to be part of the Medina Township Police Department and looks forward to a successful career serving and protecting the citizens of Medina Township.

Officer Justin Harvey, #1515

Officer Harvey joined the Medina Township Police Department in January
2012. He graduated from Medina High School in 2006 and enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard where he served as a member of its Military Police. Ofc. Harvey attended The University of Akron earning an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. In February of 2010 he graduated at the top of his class with his OPOTA certification from the Medina County Career Center. Ofc. Harvey started his lawenforcement career in December 2010 as a Reserve Officer for the Village of New London in Huron County. Being born and raised in Medina, Ofc. Harvey is proud to serve and protect the citizens of Medina Township.

 Officer Matt Ventura, #1516

Officer Ventura joined the Medina Township Police Department in April of 2001.  Prior to being hired he was an auxiliary officer with the City of Mayfield Heights.  He also worked at the corporate headquarters of Sherwin-Williams in Cleveland, Ohio and the Manufacturing Plant in Morrow Georgia as a buyer for the company.

Officer Ventura graduated from Strongsville Senior High School in 1989 and then he attended Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College and Cuyahoga Joint Vocational School for his EMT certification.  He completed the Basic Police Academy in 2000 from Cuyahoga Community College with top honors.   Officer Ventura has certifications and training in the Advanced Detection and Apprehension of Intoxicated drivers, dealing with the Mentally Ill, and Interview and Interrogation methods to name a few.  

 Officer Cliff Nicholson Jr., #1519

Officer Nicholson joined the MTPD in 2004. He attended Bowling Green State University and Owens Community College earning an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement & Corrections. Nicholson graduated from the Toledo Police Academy Headquarters. While attending College in 2002 he worked as an on campus Security Officer and a Police Officer for the Village of Woodville. He holds specialized certifications in Advanced Interview and Interrogation methods, Investgations of Sexual Assaults, Drug Identification/NIK Testing, Crisis Intervention approaches as well as AED & CPR certified. He’s a Reserve Deputy with Medina Co. Sheriff’s Office as a part of the Medina Co. OVI Task Force. Nicholson is MTPD state certified field training officer & Taser Instructor. Since 2002 holds a position in private security for a local corporation. He is an aggressive Traffic Officer who typically works the evening shifts while continuing to protect & serve the growing community of Medina Township.

 Jesse Bynum, #1518

Officer Bynum joined the Medina Township Police Department in December 2009, bringing with him over nine years of experience. He began his career in 2001 with the Grafton Police Department, where he also currently works. Officer Bynum graduated from Midview High School in 2000 and recently completed his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice Police Science at Lorain County Community College. He was class President while attending Medina County Career Center for the police academy. Officer Bynum is currently the President of the Grafton Police Benevolent Association and a member of both the FOP and OPBA.

Laurie Shoemaker, #1540

Laurie Shoemaker, Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police, has been with Medina Township Police Department since November 2006. Laurie has worked with Chief Arbogast writing grants for the department and has successfully been awarded close to $100,000 for equipment and the “Cops Care” Program. Among the many tasks she performs for the department are overseeing the records department and coordinating community events for the Township.  She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration.  Laurie was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and moved to Ohio in 2001.  She enjoys reading, traveling, and most of all being with her husband and two sons.
